Heirloom first introduced in 1888. Also known as 'Bathroom Sponge' and 'Dishwash Gourd'. Vine. Leave to mature, or fruit picked when young (10-12cm) & eaten like zucchini. Young shoots, leaves & flowers also edible. 40 seeds
TIP: To make into sponge, leave fruit to mature, then harvest & soak in water ('ret') until soft tissue breaks down. Remove, clean, and use as sponge or filter.
