First introduced in 1834 by Hovey & Co and was once the prize production crop of Wethersfield (Connecticut) during the 18th & 19th centuries. Large, slightly flattened, deep purple-red bulb with pinkish-white flesh & alternating red rings. Fine, pungent flavour. Grows well in poor, dry soils. Stores well. 100 days
