HISTORY: Watermelons originated from South Central Africa, and are aptly named for their 95% water content. They were then taken to Mexico by Cortes in 1520, then being traded into North America where they continued to spread in popularity.
Large, oblong, striped fruit with dark green stripes and medium-thick rind. Flesh is firm, bright red & sweet with fine texture and large black seeds. 35 seeds
HINT: In cooler areas, to ripen last few melons before winter, wrap in black cloth or aluminium foil to raise their internal temperature.
