***NOT TO TAS, WA*** (Triticum spelta) Persian heirloom dating back thousands of years. Produces versatile grain which is low in gluten & has a low G.I. Commonly used for food, fodder & as a green manure crop.
Highly beneficial when used as a cover crop to prevent soil erosion. After harvest, the tough, resilient stubble may be left as a protective cover to reduce blowing of the soil, and to assist colonisation by other species.
When grown as a green manure crop, plants are best dug back into the soil when the leaves are still fresh & green after approx. 8 weeks after planting. Allow the green manure to break down in the soil for up to 4 weeks before planting any vegetables.
Best sown during Autumn & Winter.
Broadcast as needed or at a rate of 40-50kg/ha.
Smaller packets are ideal for the home garden.
Grown on a certified organic farm.
