(Allium cepa) Similar in size to a small to medium onion. Old variety with rounded shape and brown papery skin. Easy to grow. Stores well - much longer than regular onions. Each bulb will produce approx. 8-12 new bulbs. In most areas planted in Autumn / Early Winter with harvest in spring. An ideal alternative to growing regular onions from seed as they are easy to weed and don't require thinning out - excellent for the elderly or time poor.
