Dry amendments are slow-release, organic fertilizers or product that break down over time to enrich the soil. They are primarily applied by either top-dressing or mixing directly into your potting mix or soil.

Because dry amendments generally act as slow-release fertilizers, their effectiveness heavily depends on microbial activity in the soil.

How to Use Dry Amendments:

Mixing (Building Soil): Blend the dry nutrients directly into your potting mix or soil prior to planting to create a highly nutrient-dense environment.
Top Dressing: For established plants, sprinkle the dry amendment evenly over the surface of your potting soil, lightly scratch it into the top few centimeters, and water it in thoroughly.

Activating Microbes: Microbes need moisture to break down dry amendments. To maintain moisture and encourage aggressive microbial breakdown, cover the amended surface with a very thin layer of soil and water in.
