(Amaranthus hypochondriacus)  Originating with the Ancient Aztecs.  Hardy plant to 1m with both leaf & grain used in salads, and cooked dishes.  Higher in protein (18%) than wheat or rice.  Easy to grow being drought, heat and pest resistant.  110-150 days

When grown as a green manure crop, plants are best dug back into the soil when the leaves are still fresh & green.  Should plants begin to flower prior to this time, the tops should be cut off & then the plant dug in.  Allow the green manure to break down in the soil for up to 4 weeks before planting any vegetables.

Broadcast as needed.
