***NOT TO TAS*** (Allium cepa) Also known as 'French Echalion'. Copper red, elongated & swollen bulb with mild, subtle flavour. Larger than regular shallots making them easy to peel. Ideal for stir-fry, roasting, or soups in place of onion. Plant height to 60cm. Easier to grow than onions - plant same time as you would garlic. One bulb will multiply into approx. 8-12 shallot bulbs attached at the base which may be dug and divided.
Shallots are generally milder and sweeter than onions and are especially useful in dishes where they are eaten raw such as dressings, sauces, salads and also desserts, quiches and custards.
