***NOT TO TAS, WA*** (Allium sativum) Originating from Spain. Round, globe shaped small to medium bulbs with purple cloves displaying a rich nutty flavour. Good both raw & cooked. The name is believed to be associated with Fidel Castro and as a result is also known as ‘Cuban Purple’. It grows well in hot climates where others struggle. Grows well from Northern NSW to TAS. Will also grow in WA & does particularly well in SA. Has a relatively strong scape but generally dropping rather than looping.
