(Daucas carota)  Purple skinned root 15-18cm long with yellow-orange flesh and long, cylindrical shape. Early to mature. Holds its purple colour when cooked. Sweet, spicy flavour eaten raw or cooked. 280 seeds

HISTORY:  Did you know that the original carrot was white and not orange?  The Celts in Northern Europe grew carrots that were white.  Afghanistan, Syria and Iran grew yellow or purple carrots.  Our sweet, deep orange carrots of today were first developed in Holland during the 1600's, then moving to America with the first settlers.
