(Symphytum officinale) Heirloom originating in Europe. Small to medium, hairy, flattened leaves with pale yellow, bell-shaped flowers. Plant to 30cm high. Dies back during winter in cooler areas. Widely used in a permaculture system for smaller backyards. Ideal for liquid manure or used as a compost activator, mulch, soil conditioner and for attracting bees to the garden.
