***NOT TO WA***  (Triticum dicoccum) An ancient, hulled wheat grain domesticated in the Near East, known for its distinct nutty flavour and high protein content.  Along with einkorn, it was one of the first crops domesticated in the Near East.  Often used as a type of farro in Italy, it is highly valued for soups, salads, and rustic baking.    Emmer contains gluten, but with a gentler, less elastic structure than modern wheat. It is not suitable for coeliacs but may be easier to digest for some.

Emmer vs. Spelt: Though both are ancient wheats, they are distinct species. Spelt is higher in gluten, making it better for rising loaves, while emmer is preferred for its rich, nutty flavour.

When grown as a green manure crop, plants are best dug back into the soil when the leaves are still fresh & green after approx. 8 weeks after planting.  Allow the green manure to break down in the soil for up to 4 weeks before planting any vegetables.

Broadcast at a rate of 45kg/ha or 4g/sqm
